Fear, Abuse, Excuses
Two shows this week inspired me; Glee (once again) and Canada’s Got Talent. On Glee’s Choke the ever amazing and tank-like Coach Beiste revealed that she had been beaten by her husband. On Canada’s Got Talent, Enigma Dance was performing in the semi-finals. I was reminded of their audition dance to Sarah MacLachlan’s Stupid about domestic abuse.
Expression = Dance
One of the best ways for women to discover their expression is through movement. There is something about moving your body as a woman that sets us free. Unfortunately a lot of the same issues mentioned above that effect our everyday expression also effect our expression through movement. It can be difficult to really let loose and let our expression flow.
Excuses, Excuses
I had an AHA moment. There is a danger when we start to know ourselves. I noticed that I was starting to use it as an excuse. I know myself and I know that certain things are not my thing so I’ve been using them as an excuse to hold myself back. My realization is that there is a fine line between expressing who you are and using that expression as a way to keep yourself small. Is that a brain twister or what?
Ripple Worthy
Making a positive impact doesn’t have to be a huge thing. You don’t have to be Mother Teresa, write an perception shaking book, speak to thousands or live in an ashram. Making a positive impact can be as simple as giving someone a hug when they need it.
